Am I Ready to File My Information Returns?
Choose the form you are preparing, review its filing-season timing, and mark the steps your team has completed before recipient delivery and IRS submission.
Build your pre-filing readiness score
A green checklist does not replace the IRS instructions.
The tool is designed to catch workflow gaps before filing. It does not decide filing obligations, validate a name/TIN against IRS records, or guarantee IRIS acceptance.
Filing readiness FAQs
What does the filing readiness score mean?
It is an organizational checklist, not an IRS approval score. A complete checklist means you have reviewed the listed preparation steps; it does not guarantee acceptance or determine whether the form is legally required.
Does the checker upload my tax information?
No. The checklist runs in your browser and does not ask you to upload recipient or payer records.
Should recipient copies be ready before I e-file?
The sequence depends on the form and your process, but the recipient-statement deadline can arrive well before the general March 31 electronic filing deadline. Track both dates independently.
What if I cannot finish by the IRS filing deadline?
Review Form 8809 before the filing due date. Many information returns qualify for an automatic 30-day extension when the request is timely, but Form 1099-NEC does not receive the automatic extension.
What if I already filed and then found an error?
Use the IRIS Correction Center for accepted returns or the rejected-transmission workflow if the submission was rejected.

The free tools help diagnose individual filing problems. 1099ERICH is the $299 Windows desktop workflow for importing CSV or Excel data, validating records, printing recipient copies, and creating IRIS-ready CSV files.
