Why status matters
IRS Publication 5717 says the Taxpayer Portal correction process is available for transmissions with a status of Accepted or Accepted with Errors. The portal uses the Correct/Replace button to begin that process. A rejected transmission has an acknowledgement that identifies the rejection and should be fixed from the source data before another submission attempt.
